Hoge Finishes Third at SONY Open

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Former Fargo South boys golf standout Tom Hoge finished third at the Sony Open held Thursday through Sunday at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

Hoge was the tournament leader heading into Sunday’s final round. He finished the tournament 16-under.

Patton Kizzire won the Sony Open edging James Hahn in a six hole playoff. Hahn shot a final round 62 to force a playoff with Kizzire at 17-under 263. Hoge was one-stroke out of the playoff.

Easton Stick Earns College Football Performance Award

 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) today announced major honors for six-time FCS national champion North Dakota State. Bison quarterback Easton Stick has been named the winner of the 2017 FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy. The team, in addition, was honored for the top FCS performance in 2017.

Stick, a junior from Omaha, Neb., went 164-for-264 passing for 2,466 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also rushed for 663 yards and 12 TDs, averaging 5.9 yards per rush.

NDSU Finishes as Unanimous Number One in Final STATS FCS Poll

North Dakota State was the unanimous No. 1 in the final STATS FCS Top 25 poll released Monday, Jan. 8, following NDSU's 17-13 victory over previously unbeaten James Madison in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game.

North Dakota State (14-1), previously ranked fourth but the No. 2 overall seed for the FCS playoffs, earned all 158 first-place votes and finished ahead of second-place James Madison (14-1).

NDSU Claims Sixth Championship In Seven Seasons With Win Over James Madison

NDSU claimed their sixth championship in seven years as they defeated the James Madison, Dukes in the FCS National Championship 17-13.

Neither team had much of a rhythm on offense but NDSU got on the board first with an opening drive touchdown run by Bruce Anderson from three yards out. The drive was extended because of a roughing the kicker penalty on a punt by Jackson Koonce.

NDSU Men Get Career Night From Miller But Fall in Summit League Opener

The NDSU Bison men’s basketball team was unable ride momentum from a quick start and fell to the SDSU Jackrabbits in their Summit League opener Wednesday night 87-80.

NDSU scored the first seven points of the contest and had a 29-20 lead over half way into the first half. The Bison benefited from some good shooting from the floor going 16-for-32 from the field and 6-for-12 from behind the arc in the first half. “We came out with a lot of energy and I thought that was something that we lost” said senior guard Paul Miller.

North Dakota State Football Program Adds 24 Players on First Day of Early Signing

North Dakota State head football coach Chris Klieman announced the addition of 24 student-athletes to the Bison program including 19 National Letter of Intent signees and five recruited walk-ons on Wednesday, Dec. 20, the first day of a new three-day early signing period in Division I football.
The recruiting class includes players from high schools in eight states including North Dakota (8), Minnesota (6), Wisconsin (3), Iowa (2), Illinois (2), Missouri (1), Kansas (1) and Florida (1).

NDSU Lands Four Players on STATS FCS All-American Teams

North Dakota State linebacker Nick DeLuca, offensive lineman Austin Kuhnert and long snapper James Fisher were named to the STATS FCS All-America first team on Tuesday, Dec. 19.  Bison safety Robbie Grimsley was a second-team selection.

Record Setting Performance Sends Bison Back to Frisco

For the sixth time in seven years Frisco, Texas will become a sea of green and gold on the first week of January. The Bison earned a trip to the FCS championship game for the sixth time in seven years on Friday as they dominated Sam Houston State 55-13.

NDSU Basketball Weekly Press Conferences

NDSU basketball had their weekly press conference with men's head coach David Richman and women's head coach Maren Walseth. The men got back-to-back wins over the past week beating North Dakota and Valley City State to get their record back to 5-5 and the women have struggled lately losing their last ofru contests to Texas Rio Grande Valley and then last weekend to North Dakota.
