Vikings 2017 Regular Season Schedule Released

The NFL announced their regular season schedule and it includes three primetime apperances for the Minesota Vikings. The Vikings will open up the season at home on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints (which happens to be the last team Adrian Peterson visited). In the middle of the year there are three straight NFC North games starting with Detroit in week four.

Twins Drop Series Opener to Tigers

The Minnesota Twins hadn't started 6-1 since 1968. That record will be safe for atleast one more year as the Twins dropped a 2-1 decision to the Detroit Tigers in the first game of a three-game series. Minnesota managed just five hits in the game and three of them came in the ninth inning. Hector Santiago pitched well enough to win going 6 1/3 innings giving up just three hits and one walk. Santiago did make one mistake, as James McCann cleared the fence in left for a two-run homerun in the fifth inning.

Ben Woodside Retirement Press Conference

Last week North Dakota State University men's basketball great Ben Woodside announced he would be retiring from the game of basketball at the age of 31. Today Woodside gave the local Fargo media an insight into his decision and a look back at his 13-year career, as he held a press conference at the Scheels Center.

NDSU Football Schedules Another FBS Matchup

The North Dakota State University football program has made a habit of beating teams from the top conferences in college football. The Bison have had so much success that less teams have been willing to schedule the five-time FCS champions.

NDSU did get one team to bite however, you will have to wait six years to see it happen. The University of Arizona and NDSU have signed a one-game contract to play in the year 2022.

Garcia Wins Masters to Capture First Major

After a drought that lasted 73 major appearances Sergio Garcia finally won his first major and it was in dramatic fashion. The Spaniard took the lead into the final round of the Masters at Augusta tied with Justin rose.

Fargo South Hires New Head Football Coach

Fargo South High School has announced the hiring of Tyler Kosel as new head coach for their football program. 

Kosel, an Edgeley, N.D., native, graduated from Valley City State University in 2013. He played football at VCSU from 2008-2012 and was a graduate assistant coach at the school in 2013. From college he went to Yuma, Ariz., as the head coach at Gila Ridge High School for the past three years.

Masters Par-3 Contest Cancelled

The Wednesday before the first round of the Masters is reserved for the par-3 contest and has been for 57 years. However, for the first time of the half decade plus event it has been canceled. Due to severe weather rolling through the area play has been suspended and the course closed for the day.

Only Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson were able to complete the nine-hole course. Mike Weir and Brandan Steele were tied for the lead at the time play was suspended, both at 3-under par.

Twins Break Opening Day Losing Streak

The Minnesota Twins had lost eight straight season openers coming into the first game of 2017, against the Kansas City Royals. That streak was broken as the Twins played a nearly perfect first game and defeated the Royals 7-1 to earn their first victory of the new season.

Ervin Santana got the ball for opening day and threw seven innings striking out three surrendering just one run.

UND Falls in Longest NCAA Tournament Game in School History

Sophomore Charlie McAvoy ended the longest game in University of North Dakota NCAA tournament history as Boston University defeated UND four to three in double overtime.

UND got the only goal in what was a very balanced first period as sophomore Rhett Gardner notched his eighth goal of the year with assists from Joel Janatuinen and Brock Boeser. Both teams but nine shots on net in the first period.

Timberwolves to Play Exhibition in China

The NBA announced today that the Minnesota Timberwolves will play two exhibitions in China before next season against the Golden State Warriors. The exhibitions are part of the NBA Global Games China 2017. The two games will be played on Oct. 5 in Shenzhen and Oct. 8 in Shanghai.The game in Shenzhen will be played at Shenzhen Universiade Center and the Sanghai game will take place at Mercedes-Benz Arena.
