FCS Bracket Revealed, Bison Take Home Top-Seed

The FCS playoff bracket was released Sunday night and the NDSU Bison faired as well as anyone could have hoped. After knocking off the Illinois State Redbirds 20-7 Saturday the Bison who were ranked 5th jumped over Central Arkansas and Jacksonville State and landed with the second seed in the 24-team field. Coming in with the one seed was the undefeated defending championsh James Madison (11-0) followed by the Bison who finished the season 10-1. You can find the entire bracket here.

The top-two seed insures NDSU homefield throughout the playoffs once again where they have lost once in the programs division-one era. The first-round of the playoffs starts Saturday, November 25th and the Bison will have a first-round bye just like all of the top eight teams. In the second round NDSU will face either Northern Arizona (7-4) from the Big Sky or champions of the Pioneer League, San Diego (9-2).

The Bison are also one of four Misouri Valley Football Conference teams to make the bracket. South Dakota State (9-2) earned a win on the road in Vermillion over the weekend against the University of South Dakota which earned the Jackrabbits the five-seed and a potential semifinal matchup with James Madison. The other Missouri Valley teams were USD, Western Illinois and Northern Iowa.
