Twins Break Opening Day Losing Streak

The Minnesota Twins had lost eight straight season openers coming into the first game of 2017, against the Kansas City Royals. That streak was broken as the Twins played a nearly perfect first game and defeated the Royals 7-1 to earn their first victory of the new season.

Ervin Santana got the ball for opening day and threw seven innings striking out three surrendering just one run.

UND Falls in Longest NCAA Tournament Game in School History

Sophomore Charlie McAvoy ended the longest game in University of North Dakota NCAA tournament history as Boston University defeated UND four to three in double overtime.

UND got the only goal in what was a very balanced first period as sophomore Rhett Gardner notched his eighth goal of the year with assists from Joel Janatuinen and Brock Boeser. Both teams but nine shots on net in the first period.

Timberwolves to Play Exhibition in China

The NBA announced today that the Minnesota Timberwolves will play two exhibitions in China before next season against the Golden State Warriors. The exhibitions are part of the NBA Global Games China 2017. The two games will be played on Oct. 5 in Shenzhen and Oct. 8 in Shanghai.The game in Shenzhen will be played at Shenzhen Universiade Center and the Sanghai game will take place at Mercedes-Benz Arena. 

Super Bowl Jersey Found and Returned to New England

Tom Brady's Super Bowl winning jersey has been found.

After the New England Patriots won Super Bowl LI over the Atlanta Falcons 34-28, completing the largest comeback in Super Bowl history, their quarterback lost his jersey. Once in the locker room the Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady wasn't able to find his jersey and it was assumed that a media member or fan that got in the locker room had stolen it.

Dexter Wener to give NFL a Chance at NDSU Pro Day

NDSU senior Dexter Werner is trading in the basketball for a football. Werner, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound center who just finished a decorated career on the basketball court will participate in NDSU's annual "Pro Day" next week, per his father, John Werner.

Werner would not be the first basketball big man to convert to the NFL. there is a bevy of Tight Ends in the NFL that played college basketball including Antonio Gates (Kent State), Jimmy Graham (Miami), Martellus Bennett (Texas A&M) and even a mid-major ball player Darren Fells (UC Irvine).

Class A Boys and Girls State Basketball Brackets Finalized

The Class A boys and girls state basketball tournament brackets are set after the EDC and WDA tournaments came to an end.

In the EDC Fargo Davies beat Sheyenne to win their third conference championship in four years and Fargo Shanley defeated Fargo Davies to win their fifth straight conference championship.

Class B ND Girls Basketball State Tournament Seeding

The 2017 North Dakota class B girls state tournament teams were decided last night and the seeding came out today, the bracket with seeds is attached below. The seeding is decided by the coaches of the remaining teams and the top five teams are ranked with the final three teams first round matchups decided by random draw.

First round of the state tournament will take place on Thursday March 2nd at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. 

Teenage Softball Pitcher Destroys Teammates in Dodgeball

A youth softball team from Normal, Illinois decided to take a day off from practice and play a friendly intersquad dodgeball game. there wasn't much dodging going on however instead it was target practice for the teams pitcher.

Polasek Leaving Bison

For the first time in six season the NDSU football team did not win a national championship and now they will have to make their first coaching changes during the Chris Klieman era. The Bison had already lost Jamar Cain to San Jose St., which opened a spot at defensive ends coach, now they will have to fill a bigger role on the opposite side of the ball. Offensive coordinator and running backs coach Tim Polasek is leaving the green and gold for Iowa City to become an offensive assistant with the University of Iowa football program.

Bison Sweep Jackrabbits Behind Career Night from Jacobson

The NDSU men’s basketball team got a season sweep against the SDSU Jackrabbits with an 82-65 win at the Scheels Center. Junior guard AJ Jacobson scored a career high 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting while sophomore guard Khy Kabellis tallied 16 points and both Dexter Werner and Paul Miller dropped in 12 points.
