Wild's Brodin out for a month with broken finger

The Minnesota Wild have lost a key piece on the blue line as defenceman Jonas Brodin has been sidelined for a month with a broken finger. The injury was sustained in a 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils. This season Brodin has tallied three goals and 16 points in 43 games on the blue line.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau has said the Nate Prosser will start in Brodin's spot when the Wild paly the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. There is the possibility of a call up from the Iowa Wild (the Wild's minor league affiliate) coming at some point.

Bison Avenge Regular Season Loss in Playoffs

The NDSU Bison took on the SDSU Jackrabbits in the FCS quarterfinals aiming to avenge their lone loss of the season against the Jacks earlier this season 19-17. The Bison did just that rolling the rabbits 36-10 and staying perfect when facing an opponent for the second time in a season in the FCS playoffs.

SDSU got out to a good start with a 10-0 lead half way through the first quarter. Brady Mengarelli rushed for a touchdown and Chase Vinatieri converted a 34-yard field goal giving the Jacks the early lead. It was all Bison from there on however, with 36 unanswered points.

Werner's Career Night not Enough as Bison Fall to Hawks

The NDSU Bison fell to the UND Fighting Hawks 74-56 Wednesday night inside the Scheels Center. The Bison looked lethargic early and fell behind 25-11 after the first ten minutes. NDSU did close the gap by halftime but only to ten with a 33-23 score in favor of the Hawks.

Bison Get Ahead and Stay Ahead to Advance in FCS playoffs

The NDSU Bison took on the Toreros in the second round of the FCS playoffs and came away with a 45-7 victory picking up their 17th straight home win in the playoffs.

Bison battle back but fall late to Broncos

The NDSU women's basketball team lost to Western Michigan 68-63 in their first home game in a week. The bison showed more balanced scoring with four scorers in double figures. Led by Emily Spier scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds resulting in her third double-double of the season. “Emily is playing like a senior” said head coach Maren Walseth “she Is not taking possessions off (and) is not wasting possessions she understands each and every one is an opportunity”.

Oksendahl calls it a career after 43 years

Shanley high school announced on Wednesday afternoon that head football coach Rod Oksendahl will is retiring from his position after 43 years coaching High School football.

Oksendahl was the head coach at Shanley for six seasons going 56-14 and capturing a state title in 2012 along with three other trips to the state championship game. Rod was a head coach for 37 years and had a combined record of 317-86. He coached at Wyndmere from 1975-78, Cavalier from 78-2006 and Shanley from 2011-2016.

Bison Fall in Top Ten Hoops Contest at Xavier

The Bison took on another top-10 opponent on Tuesday night and lost 85-55 as the played Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio. it was the Bison's seventh game against a top-10 opponent in their time at D1. 

The Musketeers took an early lead scoring the first seven points and led 43-22 at halftime. Redshirt freshmen Deng Gue hit on 12-of-18 shots in the game and led NDSU with 18 points but was the only player in double digits for the Bison.

Bison Roll Past Warriors

NDSU men's basketball took on the Waldorf Warriors tonight at the Scheels Center 

the game started with an 8-0 run for NDSU and the Bison never looked back after that going on for an 83-52 win

Khy Kabellis lead the bison with 12 points in 22 minutes with most of the starters being rested for the majority of  the second half. Deng Gue got his first collegiate start and compiled nine points to go with eight rebounds. Paul Miller also added seven points but most impressively got up for a dunk over a defender (props to coach kramer on that one).

Norv Turner Resigns as Vikings OC

Minnesota Vikings Offensive Coordinator, Norv Turner, has resigned from his position with the team effective immediately.

The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter and confirmed a few minutes later by the Vikings official twitter account. TE coach, Pat Shurmur will take over as the interim OC for the team. Turner has been a part of the Vikings for three seasons as the OC and Shurmur is in his first year as the TE coach.
