Fargo’s Persons wins eGolf Professional Tour event

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Josh Persons of Fargo shot a final round 65 to win the Willow Creek Open Friday at an eGolf Professional Tour.

It is Persons’ first professional title. His 7-under round – all pars and seven birdies – at the High Point Country Club earned him the $17,000 first place prize.

The eGolf Tour is in its 12th season and based primarily in North Carolina and South Carolina. The High Point win was Persons’ third event on the tour and the first for finishing in the money.

GRAND FORKS — Former University of North Dakota hockey player and assistant coach Cary Eades has been named coach of the year in the United States Hockey League.

Eades led the Sioux Falls Stampede to a 45-17-2 record in his first season. The 45 wins set a team record. The Stampede also earned a team-record 92 points, 51 more than last season. It was the largest turnaround in USHL history.

Laredo powers past RedHawks in F-M’s home opener

The Laredo Lemurs scored six runs in the first inning to spark an 11-1 victory against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in American Association baseball at Newman Outdoor Field.

Laredo (8-0) remained unbeaten and spoiled the home opener for the RedHawks before 4,238 fans. F-M dropped to 2-6 overall.
