Gophers knock off Butler in NIT

(Indianapolis, IN) -- The Minnesota Gophers came away with a 73-72 last second win over Butler in the First Round of the NIT tournament at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Elijah Hawkins knocked down a pair of free throws with five seconds left in regulation, and Butler missed a game-winning jump-shot at the buzzer. Dawson Garcia poured in 25 points in the victory, while Hawkins had 11 points to go with 15 assists.

Minnesota will play the winner of Wednesday's game between SMU and Indiana State in the Second Round later this week.
