Twins hold off Cardinals

(St. Louis, MO) — The Twins extended their lead in the AL Central with a 3-2 win over the Cardinals in interleague play at Busch Stadium.

Donovan Solano hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie, and Jhoan Duran worked around a one-out solo home run in the ninth to lock down his 18th save. Pablo Lopez earned his sixth win after giving up one run on four hits in six innings of work.

Minnesota has a two-game lead over Cleveland in the AL Central at 55-53. Joe Ryan starts for the Twins against St. Louis tonight.
