ST. LOUIS – North Dakota State safety Cole Wisniewski and punter Kaedin Steindorf earned Missouri Valley Football Conference player of the week honors Monday, Sept. 4, for their performances in NDSU’s 35-10 season-opening victory against Eastern Washington.
Wisniewski, a senior from Sparta, Wis., was named MVFC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. The former linebacker made a game- and career-high 11 tackles and recorded his first career interception as NDSU’s starting strong safety. He made seven solo tackles and also had one pass breakup.
Steindorf, a junior from Sherwood, Ore., was named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Steindorf averaged a league-best 47.2 yards per punt with a long of 49 yards. He pinned Eastern Washington inside the 20 three times in four attempts including twice inside the 10. He also handled all six kickoffs and was the holder on five PAT conversions.
