10 a.m. update: (FARGO) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the intersection of 13th Avenue South and 32nd Street South/West Trac Drive South has reopened.
8:50 a.m. update: (FARGO) — More information is being released regarding a fatal pedestrian versus vehicle crash in the City of Fargo this morning.
The Highway Patrol says the female pedestrian was crossing the westbound lanes of 13th Avenue South, when she was struck by a westbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, which was westbound on 13th Avenue South in the middle of the three lanes.
The pedestrian was in or near the marked crosswalk on the east intersection when she was struck. It is unknown which direction the pedestrian was walking.
The intersection is still closed for accident reconstruction, and the Patrol hopes to have it reopened by 10 a.m.
Original Story: (FARGO) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal pedestrian versus vehicle crash in the City of Fargo.
According to Sergeant Kristjan Helgoe of the Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 5:50 a.m. Wednesday. Approximately 10 minutes later, the North Dakota Highway Patrol was requested to respond to the scene to assist in the investigation of the crash.
“By the time we arrived on scene, the pedestrian was confirmed to be a fatality victim,” Helgoe said.
The victim has been identified as a 68-year-old female. The driver of the vehicle is being identified as a male.
The 68-year-old female was walking across 32nd Street, and the vehicle was westbound on 13th Avenue, the Highway Patrol said.
The crash is being reconstructed at this time by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, causing the intersection to be closed at this time. Helgoe said they hope to have the intersection reopened by mid-morning.
