DOJ arrests California man alleging he was attempting to steal nuclear secrets

(Washington, DC)  —  A man is under arrest for his alleged involvement in a plan to steal nuclear missile secrets, ostensibly for China.

The Justice Department announced yesterday that Chenguang Gong stole files while working at a California company that develops tech to detect and track nuclear missiles for the U.S. government. He’s accused of similar activities when he later went to work for a competitor. The DOJ says there’s evidence Gong applied to a Chinese program that seeks out those who could boost the country’s economy and military.

Gong is charged with theft of trade secrets and faces up to ten years in prison.
