(FARGO) – Officials with Fargo Public Schools have confirmed that they took extra precautions at Ben Franklin Middle School this morning.
The extra precautions followed the report of a ‘concerning Snapchat interaction’ between a student and an unknown Snapchat profile.
In an e-mail obtained from Ben Franklin Middle School principal Kirstin Hanson, the interactions included threats to safety. Hanson says the Fargo Police Department responded to a call from a family regarding the interaction.
“Under an abundance of caution, today when students arrive at Ben Franklin, school staff will check all backpacks/bags to ensure only appropriate items are being brought to school,” Hanson said in an e-mail sent to families this morning. “Students are asked to be prepared to open their backpacks/bags when they arrive prior to entering the doors.”
Hanson reiterated that the only things students are to bring to school are school-related and school-needed.
