(MOORHEAD) – Ten years ago today, friends of Tommy Bearson saw him alive for what they didn’t think would be the last time.
It was on September 20, 2014, that Bearson disappeared – and three days later, his remains were discovered.
Jackson Miller, a childhood friend of Bearson’s, called him ‘a legend.’
“He was honestly one of the nicest, most down to earth, fun-loving people,” Miller said. “We grew up together.”
Bearson had just enrolled at NDSU.
Miller said he had just talked to Bearson on the evening of September 19, 2014. The two had been exchanging text messages. It wasn’t until later that Miller knew something was off.
Miller had run into Tommy’s sister, Maddie.
“She’s like, ‘Have you guys heard from Tom?’” he recalled. “And I’m like, ‘NO, he didn’t even answer me back.’ And that’s not like Tom. Tom usually answers back right away.”
That’s when it set in – Miller remembers tears starting to flow – because everyone who knew Bearson knew ‘it just didn’t seem right.’
Moorhead Police are still investigating tips.
