South Dakota abortion rights case continued to December

(Pierre, SD) — The case against the abortion rights ballot measure known as Amendment G won’t be resolved until after the General Election. Life Defense Fund sued Dakotans for Health in June on the grounds of invalid petition signatures, hoping to get the amendment removed from the ballot. The trial was supposed to begin yesterday, but scheduling conflicts and judge reassignments pushed it off. December 2nd is when the next hearing date is scheduled. There is still no date set for the trial. The amendment could still be invalidated regardless of November’s election outcome if the case is eventually ruled in favor of Life Defense Fund.
