Suspect tied to shooting death of Zion Brooks faces additional charges

FARGO, ND — A man allegedly tied to the death of Zion Brooks in June is facing additional charges.

The newly listed charges were filed on September 26th in East Central District Court against Amire Logan; and include Possession of a controlled substance by inmate, unlawful possession of a firearm, and prohibited alterations on firearms. Court documents describe a September 24th traffic stop in the area of 619 1st Ave East, in which Logan was a passenger allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. After searching the vehicle, officers found a 9mm handgun with an altered serial number. When he was arrested and being booked into the Cass County Jail, authorities say two small bags – one containing marijuana and the other cocaine – were discovered.

Authorities say Logan is tied to the shooting of Brooks in June of 2024, who died from a gunshot to the head shortly after police discovered the victim in the 2200 block of 6th Ave. S. Logan was initially charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm on July 2nd.

Logan has the opportunity to be released on $100,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing for Logan for the new charges is scheduled for October 31st, 2024. Stay with us as more details become available.
