Walz authorizes assistance to North Carolina

(ST PAUL) – The Minnesota National Guard has been authorized to provide emergency assistance to the state of North Carolina following Hurricane Helene. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed an emergency executive order today authoritizing the mobilization. In a statement, Walz said, “Minnesota will be there to support the region however we can. As communities rebuild, I am grateful for the dedication of Minnesota’s first responders in answering the call to travel east to help impacted areas.”

A mobile command post from St. Louis County is currently en route to North Carolina. Additionally, the state of North Carolina has requested Minnesota Army National Guard helicopter assets and first responder assistance.
