Enderlin-based Soo Line Railroad ordered to reinstate employee, pay back wages and damages

(ENDERLIN) – Soo Line Railroad has been ordered to reinstate an employee and pay them back wages and damages by a federal government agency. The railroad was found to have illegally retaliated against, and terminated, a claims representative who reported an injury, discussed safety concerns with her supervisor and eventually filed a complaint with the federal Department of Labor. OSHA investigated the complaint, filed by an employee of the Enderlin-basred railroad.

Investigators found the railroad violated the claims representative’s federal protections, and ordered the employee be reinstated, plus a total of $45,000 in back wages and $155,000 in other damages be paid. The railroad operator must also remove negative reports from the worker’s personnel file.
