Sen. Cramer Leaning Towards “Yes” on Measure 4 Among Revelations During Debate

Recently, U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer signaled his support for  North Dakota Initiated Measure 4 which, if passed, would prohibit state and local governments from levying on the assessed value of a home. This measure would cause catastrophic problems for our state as county governments and school districts could face a serious funding crisis.

In the debate, Senator Cramer said, “At the same time, the elected leaders in Bismarck have had the opportunity to try and fix it, so I don’t know how this is going to play out … but as you can probably tell by my answer, I’m probably leaning to supporting it, honestly, because I think you need to do something big to get change that the people of North Dakota are demanding.”

Challenger Katrina Christiansen said, “Senator Cramer is great at identifying problems and assigning blame. But his position is a textbook case of the pot calling the kettle black. Cramer has been in Washington and is part of a movement that doesn’t want the government to work, so that way they can campaign on the government not working and the need to shrink it. But that leaves everyday North Dakotans out to dry.”

Katrina continued, “Sen. Cramer is right about one thing however. The people of North Dakota are demanding big change. They are tired of the chaos and dysfunction in Washington. They are tired of career politicians playing partisan politics instead of solving problems on behalf of everyday North Dakotans. That is why it is time to bring Kevin home.”
