Burgum: “It could be 100,000 acres that are affected”

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum calls the fires in western North Dakota ‘historic.’

“This is the most fires we’ve had (on Saturday),” he said. “And when we’ve had them, we usually don’t have 70 mile an hour plus winds.”

The impact of the fires will be wide-reaching by the time the final flames are put out.

“We’ve surpassed 50,000 acres, and before we’re done with this, it could be 100,000 acres that are affected,” Burgum said.

Multiple injuries, along with one fatality, have been reported.

Burgum appeared on The Flag’s What’s On Your Mind.
