Several southeastern states still recovering during aftermath of Hurricane Helene

WDAY RADIO — The southeast is still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Western North Carolina, and Asheville in particular, was hit hard by Helene after it made landfall two weeks ago in Florida. North Carolina officials are still unable to confirm how many people are missing, and the death toll is at least 117. FEMA is on the ground, but thousands of people are still without running water and a reliable food supply.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee says the recovery in the eastern part of his state will take years, maybe decades.
