MOORHEAD, Minn. – Voters struck down a Moorhead Area Public Schools capital projects levy that would have raised $43 million over 10 years.
11,090 voters opposed the plan and 10,476 approved it.
The levy would have raised property taxes $4.3 million a year in the district for 10 years. The money would have gone to enhance curriculum, improve facilities, invest in technology and get new buses and vans.
If the levy passed, property taxes would have gone up $224 a year for a home worth $300,000.
