Baesler wins reelection as State Superintendent

(BISMARCK, ND) – North Dakota State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kirsten Baesler, has won reelection, defeating challenger Jason Heitkamp in the general election.

“I’m so grateful to all of the North Dakotans who decided that I should have another term as the state school superintendent, and I want to thank everyone who has supported me,” Baesler said in a statement following Tuesday’s election. “I want to promise everyone who voted and may not have supported me that I will continue to work for all students of North Dakota.”

Baesler said the state has made strides in K-12 education during the last 12 years – but she’s not done.

“The reason I ran again is that there’s always more that we need to do for our students,” she said. “My philosophy as state superintendent has been to strive for continuous improvement each and every day, for all students, and that will continue.”
