ST. PAUL, MN — The leaders of Minnesota’s two major political parties are discussing what to do after an apparent tie for seats in the House.
Results show the chamber deadlocked, with 67 seats for Republicans and the same number for the DFL. At least two seats won by DFL lawmakers face recounts. Party leaders say they are already exploring options for sharing power in the chamber.
The House hasn’t been in a similar situation since 1978, when negotiations led to Republicans getting the House Speaker’s chair and Democrats taking control of the chamber’s spending committees.
