ND Governor Elect to prioritize property tax legislation in upcoming session

BISMARCK, ND — North Dakota Governor-elect Kelly Armstrong says property tax reform is his top priority for the 2025 legislative session.

Armstrong spoke about the recent ballot measure that would have repealed North Dakota’s property tax system. He was against the measure, but says if state lawmakers don’t offer some tax relief soon, the proposal will “come back and it will come back fast.”

The Governor-elect says he’s open to ideas like expanding a tax relief program which allows homeowners to apply for $500 off their 2024 property taxes.
