WASHINGTON – Minnesota Senator Tina Smith is among a group of Democratic lawmakers who are opposing the sale of American weapons to Israel.
Smith joined more than a dozen Democrats last week in voting in favor of three resolutions sponsored by independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Each resolution was defeated by a large margin, but analysts said the vote is a sign that some Democrats are upset with Israel’s ongoing activity in Gaza.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar voted against all three resolutions.
