City Commissioner shares concerns on Fargo’s Needle Exchange Program

(FARGO, ND) – Fargo City Commissioner Michelle Turnberg says she has concerns with the city’s Needle Exchange Program.

“Needle exchange. Where’s the exchange taking place? Because it seems to me all the needles are on city property,” she told The Flag’s What’s On Your Mind.

She said the program doesn’t work.

“You don’t need to bring any needles back,” Turnberg said. “They’ll just give you more free, because that gives a stigma, and they don’t want people to feel bad about bringing needles in.”

In a 3-2 vote last night, the Fargo City Commission voted to keep the program.
Mayor Tim Mahoney calls the program ‘successful.’
