SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Republicans are fuming that a Satanist holiday display is being shown at the Minnesota capitol.
“Thanks to all the hard work from our Congregation, especially Calcifer, for helping us set up Minnesota Satanist’s first ever holiday display at the State Capital in Saint Paul! HAIL RELIGIOUS PLURALITY!!! HAIL SATAN!!!” Minnesota Satanists posted on Facebook.
Minnesota Republicans are furious pointing the finger at Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
“Is there anything Tim Walz won’t do to insult Minnesotans?” House Minority Whip Congressman Tom Emmer of Minnesota’s Sixth District, the third highest-ranking Republican in the House, posted on X.
“When you get a DFL trifecta, you get a Satanic display at our State Capitol. During the holidays… what a disgrace. Only in Walz’s Minnesota,” Congressman Pete Stauber of Minnesota’s 8th District posted on X.
In an email to WDAY Radio, the Minnesota Department of Administration, which is in charge of approving displays at the capitol said “A permit for a First Amendment protected speech event does not imply an endorsement by the State.”
In Department of Administration guidelines, the only limits to unattended displays are they must be in the center of the east hall or north corridor and must not block or impede access to rooms or the corridor.
The display is scheduled to be in the capitol until December 27.
WDAY Radio has reached out to Governor Tim Walz for comment.
