ATLANTA – A Georgia district attorney has been disqualified from prosecuting President-elect Donald Trump.
A state appellate court removed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from Trump’s 2020 election interference case Thursday. The decision is likely to hinder efforts to try Trump and his co-defendants for allegedly trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Earlier this year, Trump’s lawyers asked for Willis to be disqualified from the case over her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade who was tasked with leading the case against Trump.
The court said an earlier ruling that allowed Willis to stay on the case “erred by failing to disqualify” her and her office.
