Metro Flood Diversion Authority passes policies setting limits for Executive Director

(FARGO, ND) – The Metro Flood Diversion Authority has passed a pair of policies aimed at setting limits for the executive director.

The board, in approving the policies Thursday, will set limits for Jason Benson, who will join the Authority as Executive Director in February. Benson was chosen out of three finalists for the position, and comes to the Authority from Cass County, where he serves as County Engineer.

The first policy requires employees, board members or a contracted consultant to seek and receive permission from the Board Chairman for any application fees greater than $200. Additionally, the policy bars the use of contracted consultant staff time to prepare or review materials relating to the application.

The second policy requires approval by the Board Chair for a diversion employee entering the Authority into a sponsorship agreement, if the Authority is required to pay a fee greater than $200. This includes conferences or industry gatherings ‘related to the work of the authority.’
