LRC WINTER OUTLOOK

We’ve made it through 1 month of “winter” and overall it hasn’t been too bad!!   We’ve had a little over 10″ of snow for the season so far which is about 8″ below normal (no surprise there) but we are almost double of what we had last year to date.   So, what does the REST of winter hold in store.   Let’s take a look, first at January:

JANUARY:  We will start the month on a cold note but turn dangerously cold the first full week of the month with wind chills around -30 below or colder!!!  There will be a storm system around the 5th (most of the snow south and west of the F/M area but we should see some snow out of that system.   Another clipper system comes our way between 10-12th with cold weather sticking around through about the 17th.  Then we get a brief January thaw 18-23rd with another clipper system arriving around 22nd/23rd followed by another cold blast to end the month.

February:

FEB LRC

February will be a “milder” month overall with a clipper system to start off the month followed by near normal temps then warming up after the 6th of the month.  A stronger storm possible just after mid month followed by a quick punch of cold air to end the month.

March:

LRC MARCH

March looks to start off COLD with a clipper system bringing wind and blowing snow, BUT, a quick warm up follows through about the 19th as another system comes our way (rain or snow) followed by a warm end to the month.

Overall winter is temps averaging above normal with below normal snowfall (25″-40″ likely)  January will be cold for sure but Feb. and March will be tolerable.
