ND bills introduced on chronic wasting disease funding & ‘baiting’

BISMARCK, N.D. – North Dakota lawmakers are mulling a bill that would change how money from hunting and fishing licenses would be used.

The House bill introduced by Republican State Representatives Bill Tveit of Hazen and Dori Hauck of Hebron would prevent the Game and Fish Department from money from licenses or application fees for research or management related to chronic wasting disease.

Last week, Mandan Republican State Senator Keith Boehm introduced a bill that would prevent the Game and Fish Department from prohibiting or restricting the use of supplemental feed on private land. It’s a practice commonly known as baiting for big game hunting.
