So long mild weather….snow and cold back in the forecast according to the LRC

What a mild day out there today with temps in the 30s over most of the area.   The LRC had predicted a clipper system 2 months ago for this weekend and our short range models now picking up on it.   The storm is expected to come in 2 waves.   The first wave of snow will occur Saturday morning as warmer air tries to push into the area.   Then we will see a break in the action Saturday night.  The second wave of snow comes in Sunday morning followed by WINDY conditions and blowing snow Sunday afternoon.   We aren’t expecting a lot of snow but even a few inches with 30-40mph winds will cause travel issues on Sunday.   Here’s a look at what our models are forecasting for the weekend clipper system:

Now, typically models over forecast  snowfall totals.  I believe we will pick up 1-2″ here in the F/M area with higher totals in lakes country.
