(GRAND FORKS, ND) – A survey of Grand Forks residents shows areas of concern.
Grand Forks Police Lieutenant Derik Zimmel says the survey was conducted during the fall of 2024 in accordance with standards by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). It’s held every two years. In 2024, there were 294 responses, up from 215 in 2022 but down from 932 in 2020.
Among the areas of concern were that residents do not feel safe in areas of downtown, with near-north, near-south and areas west of the public library mentioned repeatedly. Residents said they were also concerned with drug activity, traffic violations and other crimes.
