Powerful tranquilizer linked to overdose deaths in Fargo-Moorhead

(FARGO, ND) — Officials say a powerful sedative that’s killed thousands in the U.S. is now showing up in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

The drug is called Xylazine or “Tranq” and it’s only approved as a tranquilizer for veterinary use. But the DEA says it’s seen an uptick of seizures of the drug in this part of the country. Fargo Police say nearly 30-percent of overdose drugs in the city were Xylazine-related.
