Pepperball rounds used on West Fargo fleeing suspect not following commands

WEST FARGO, N.D. – West Fargo Police officers used pepperball rounds against a chase suspect they say didn’t comply with instructions.

Officers tried to pull over a vehicle on the 400 block of 32nd Avenue East around 12:15 Thursday morning. Authorities say the suspect fled on Sheyenne Street and then 26th Avenue West where an officer used a PIT maneuver. When the vehicle stopped, police say officers used less than lethal pepperball rounds on the driver when he didn’t comply with their commands and took him into custody.

Fifty-five-year-old Shane Koenig of West Fargo was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, terrorizing, preventing arrest and fleeing and misdemeanor driving under suspension and an outstanding warrant. He was taken to the hospital and medically cleared to be sent to jail.
