UNITED STATES – Since he began his second term in the White House. tribes across the country have been concerned over whether President Donald Trump intends to uphold treaty responsibilities.
Tribal leaders say they’re encouraged by an order from Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to exempt tribal nations from the President’s order to cut diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
They say the order represents Burgum’s respect for the sovereignty of tribal governments.
