(WASHINGTON, DC) – The United States Senate has confirmed Kash Patel as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a 51-49 vote.
Senator Susan Collins of Maine and Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska were the only Republicans to vote against Patel’s nomination.
North Dakota Senators Kevin Cramer and John Hoeven are applauding the confirmation.
“Kash Patel is a proven reformer and trailblazer whose background as a prosecutor and investigator have earned President Tump’s trust to bring much-needed transparency and accountability at the FBI,“ Cramer said. “As Director, he will put America First and restore public confidence in the institution’s core mission, law and order.”
Hoeven praised Patel’s prior leadership.
“Kash Patel has served as a public defender, prosecutor, and in leadership positions at the Department of Defense, Office of the Director of National Intelligence and National Security Council,” he said. “He will focus the FBI on protecting the American people and prioritizing law and order to help make our communities safer. We congratulate Director Patel on his confirmation to lead the FBI.”
