North Dakota Legislature reaches crossover point

(BISMARCK, ND) — The North Dakota Legislature has reached crossover. Crossover is a deadline at which time bills acted in their original chamber are sent to the opposite chamber for their consideration.

The North Dakota Senate wrapped up their pre-crossover floor session before 3 p.m., while the North Dakota House took late into the night to complete their last pre-crossover floor session, gaveling out at 10:30 p.m. The final bill acted on in the House, House Bill 1609, would have allowed admission to the bar examination through an apprenticeship program developed, established, and implemented by the North Dakota Supreme Court. The bill failed 70-20.

The Legislature will be adjourned until late next week.
