(Richland County, ND) — Members of the Dakota Resource Council and local residents are appealing the issuance of a state permit for a proposed large dairy operation in Richland County.
Officials with environmental group Dakota Resource County filed a notice of appeal early this month seeking the permit’s revocation. In its appeal, the group raised concerns that the 12-thousand-500-cow operation run by Riverview would pollute area rivers streams with manure and other waste, and could harm aquifers that supply drinking water to Abercrombie Township and adjacent areas.
A hearing on the matter is pending.
