Minnesota Business Partnership CEO calls on state to be ‘Minnesota competitive’ in business

(ST PAUL, MINN) — The leader of the Minnesota Business Partnership says the state needs to do everything it can to be “Minnesota competitive” in business.

“That means we can’t be the highest business tax rate, we can’t have the fifth highest income tax rate and our regulations can’t be 16 months longer than what’s being built in Fargo,” Minnesota Business Partnership CEO Kurt Zellers said.

He says the state needs to do what it can to not make it harder to do business in the state, and there needs to be a better job of showing what it can do. He says the state needs to work to get the attention of Governor Tim Walz.

“We’ve got to be there at an equal amount of time, saying ‘this is how much Minnesota companies have donated to charities, this is why we have the Minneapolis Art Institute,” he said. “This is how the Guthrie is able to maintain such an unbelievable product. Those benefits come from having those corporate headquarters (here).”
