UPDATE: Woman & child killed in Spirit Lake shooting

UPDATE – Special Agent in Charge of FBI Minneapolis Alvin M. Winston, Senior says the victims in Tuesday’s shooting on the Spirit Lake Reservation in St. Michael are a woman and a child.

“Yesterday the Spirit Lake Reservation was impacted by a heinous act of violence. A third victim suffered life threatening injuries. There are no words strong enough to capture this horrific crime. While we cannot undo the pain and loss inflicted by this senseless violence, we can and will deliver justice. A suspect is now in custody, and the investigation remains ongoing. This was only possible through the strong partnership between the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of North Dakota and tribal, local, state and federal law enforcement. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” Winston, Sr. said.
When asked for the name of the person taken into custody and information about the victims, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for North Dakota says they can’t comment because it’s an active investigation.
