(GRAND FORKS, ND) — Less than eight hours after beginning, Altru Health System says all patients have been moved from the old hospital to their new facility.
At 8 a.m., patients were moved from the old hospital. The health system said staff worked to ensure a smooth and safe transfer, which wrapped up before 4 p.m. The next step is to decommission and demolish the new hospital, which will be turned into patient/guest parking and a water retention pond.
Officials say a temporary parking plan will be put in place for the next 15 to 18 months. Free valet and shuttle services will be available for all patients and visitors.
In addition to the new hospital opening officially, Altru 860 is being changed to become the Altru Behavioral Health Center for both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health patients.
