Appeals court upholds E. Jean Carroll verdict against Trump

NEW YORK – President-Elect Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the verdict in his sexual abuse civil trial has been rejected.

Trump was found liable last year for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll in a New York City department store in the 1990s and for defaming her when he denied her story.

Monday a Manhattan federal appeals court found Trump didn’t show how his rights were violated during the trial or prove that a new trial was warranted. Separately, Trump was ordered to pay over $83 millionin defamation damages after he continued to deny Carroll’s account.

The President-elect is still appealing that verdict.
