Armstrong says he’s unaware of issues with Fargo Public Schools following state, federal law

(FARGO, ND) — North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong says his office has not been made aware of concerns that Fargo Public Schools is continuing to defy state law – and new federal guidelines.

Earlier this year, then-Congressman Armstrong said Fargo Public Schools doesn’t get the choice to avoid following state law related to pronoun and bathroom preference among students.  In May 2023, Fargo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Rupak Gandhi gave direction to Fargo Public School board members and officials to follow federal law over then-recently passed state law when it comes to new legislation that impacts LGBTQ+ youth.

Concerned individuals say the laws and guidelines are still not being followed. Armstrong says his office will be looking into the situation.
