ELLENDALE, N.D. – North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong signs a bill into law streamlining on-site backup power generation at data centers in the state.
The move tries to help make sure these buildings can continue to operate during emergency situations.
“Ellendale is a shining example of the public and private sectors working hand-in-hand to drive economic growth and meet workforce needs. The collaboration among the city, Applied Digital and Headwaters Development to develop this game-changing project, expand housing options and meet infrastructure needs with state support has been remarkable,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong toured the Applied Digital data center and a housing project in Ellendale. The company continues to build out a high-performance computing AI data center. The 380,000 square foot facility is expected to begin operating later this year. It will be followed by two 900,000 square foot expansions.
