Aviation fuel tanker overturns at Grand Forks airport

(GRAND FORKS, ND) – An overturned tanker at the Grand Forks International Airport caused a spill of aviation fuel over the weekend.

Grand Forks firefighters were called to the airport on Saturday on a report of an aviation gas tanker accident involving a spill. When they arrived, they found a substantial leak near the rear of the tanker, with aviation fuel running out of the ventilation stack of the vehicle.

Crews contained the fuel with the use of sand and containers. Between 200 and 500 gallons of fuel was lost.

Nobody was injured.
