Biden expresses hope for ceasefire after death of Hamas leader

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Biden hopes for a ceasefire in the Middle East following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

While leaving Berlin to return to the White House, Biden said he hopes Sinwar’s death will lead to an end of fighting between Israel and Hamas, and also between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Biden sent Secretary of State Antony Blinken back to the region in an effort to get the ball rolling.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to press on with the wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
