Bill in ND House bars sexual assault survivors from going to school with assailants

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Legislature considers a bill to boost protection for school-age sexual assault survivors by barring their assailants from going to the same school.

The House bill would require schools to remove students convicted of sexual assault if the victim attends the same school. The offending student could be expelled or arrangements could be made for them to attend a different school or be enrolled in an online-learning program.

Proponents of the measure stress the measure would apply only to students found guilty of misconduct and not those who are suspected or accused.
