Burgum reacts to first presidential debate

(PHILADELPHIA, PENN) – Following Tuesday night’s debate, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum is reacting to the first meeting between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“It was just one lie after another,” Burgum told NEWSMAX. “I think one of the things, as Governor, during my time under the Biden administration, we’ve had North Dakota National Guard troops at the southern border almost continuously. One of the lies inside the lie that she talked about was ‘Oh, you know, I’m going to blame the Republicans. If we had this bill, we could hire 1,500 people.’ Call the Border Patrol right now, there’s thousands of unfilled positions because morale is so low.”

Burgum said Border Patrol agents who could take early retirement ‘have left.’

“Those same, sometimes multigenerational law enforcement at the border are telling their kids ‘Do not go into law enforcement, do not work for the Border Patrol,’ he said.

Burgum also touched on the overdose deaths in the United States, saying more people have died from overdoses since Biden and Harris took office.
