California wildfires burn nearly 21,000 acres as battle to contain blaze continues

VENTURA, CA — The wind driven Mountain Fire raging across California’s Ventura County has now scorched nearly 21,000 acres and is roughly 31% contained.

More than 200 homes have burned to the ground. An estimated firefighters are on the scene battling the massive blaze.

Eighteen-year-old Dariel Vasquez was killed after being struck by a falling tree. His passing marks the first fatality resulting from the many wildfires burning in the area.
