(FARGO) — It’s been about five weeks since the camping ordinance was put in place in the City of Fargo, and Fargo Assistant City Administrator Brenda Derrig, along with Fargo Cass Public Health Director Jen Faul, gave the Fargo City Commission an update as to what’s been going on Monday night.
“Since the implementation, we have begun weekly camp outreach and compliance checks,” Derrig said. “Outreach support and relocation and cleanups have occurred.”
No arrests or fines have been levied for violating the ordinance, and more than 160 staff hours have been logged for cleaning up the homeless camps, she said.
Faul says the city is working with the homeless.
“We’re working to connect them with the services, and triaging their needs as best as we can, to make sure they are doing as well as they can, given the circumstances.”
